For Youth with Diabetes
Mission Statement
‘For Youth with Diabetes’ is a non-profit organisation
registered with the South African Department of Social Welfare and the South
African Revenue Service. This organisation has been established with the expressed
purpose of saving lives of young people in South Africa who have diabetes.
§ Educate people about diabetes and raise
general awareness of the illness.
§ Support the Insulin for Life Campaign
by raising funds to purchase insulin and other diabetic supplies for those who
can’t afford it.
§ Establish support groups.
§ Distribute educational material about
diabetes.
§ Send underprivileged children with
diabetes and their families on diabetic educational weekends.
§ Liase with diabetic affiliated
organisations to achieve common goals.
§ Promote general healthy lifestyles to
prevent diabetes.
§ Render assistance to diabetics.
§ Promote the general welfare and
wellbeing of diabetics.
‘For Youth with Diabetes’ run diabetes educational camps for the youth. These are held at different locations in South Africa. We also run a teacher workshop, explaining to the teachers what diabetes is and how to manage having a diabetic learner in class. We are increasing public awareness about diabetes with Family Day Picnics; diabetes days and much more.
